DIY Unicorn pumpkin in all its glam!

Have a child who is just infatuated with unicorns? Or perhaps , its you! Either way, here is our 2017 Halloween unicorn pumpkin, that we are going to double as a party decoration for our youngest's upcoming birthday in December.

1. Pick your pumpkin. The rounder, and the whiter, the better!

2. Give your pumpkin a wash. I like to use gentle soaps that doesn't leave behind any residue. I find Dawn is perfect for this.

3. Shop Dollerama's flower section for an assortment of colored flowers. I found the more colors, the more magical the final affect.

4. Now for the fun part. Gluing on the flowers. Please be safe and wear protective gloves during this process, as its very hard to not get the hot glue on your hands. I personally prefer mod podge hot glue gun finger caps as they are less invasive and easier to manipulate your materials while wearing.

5. Once you've glued on enough flowers to appease your taste, youre nearly finished. The final touches include the ears, the horn and the eyes, all which were free styled. The horn was conveniently located in one of my popery bowls, however I will attach links on how to DIY your own.

To achieve the ear look, I cut strips of cardboard, used a sharpie to design the inner ear portion, and attempted glitter around the edges (I may skip this step the next time).

Here's a site featuring a free ear template should you be interested: http://www.lifeismade.com/diy/unicorn-headband-tutorial-with-free-pattern

As previously stated, the horn was made on a whim. I gave it a coat of gold paint and voila. However, here is a link on how to create your own horn using clay. (I've also seen this done with sea shells). Follow the link below for a tutorial on how to make the horn.

6. The eyes were drawn on with a sharpie. This requires a steady hand and I suggest drawing with pencil before you complete with marker.

and that's it! Hope you enjoyed my DIY unicorn pumpkin tutorial.
